MEDB Women In Technology rented Nat Geo’s Giant Traveling Map of the Pacific Ocean to showcase during GIS Day celebrations throughout the state, as well as to loan to schools for hands-on geospatial exploration fun for students.  The 35 feet by 26 feet giant map heads will be showcased tonight, December 14th, at UHMC’s GIS Certificate Program: A Night at the Aquarium at the Maui Ocean Center from 5p.m. to 6p.m.

MEDB Women In Technology is very grateful to Esri’s Charlie Fitzpatrick for facilitating the statewide trainings during the busy holiday week. We are also excited to launch our new STEMworks GIS curriculum module to help support geospatial learning activities in the classroom!

We learned so much from the presenters who shared their knowledge, passion and excitement of GIS and the many fun and engaging ways that GIS is used in their careers and to help our community.

Educators and influencers are encouraged to register for Esri’s Educator Institute “T3G,” scheduled July 17-22, 2016.

“T3G is a professional development event for educators and education influencers who help other educators learn why and how to use GIS. Through modeling, practice, discussion, and networking, participants boost their skills in teaching with computers, in problem-based learning, in conducting professional development, and in using GIS.”
